Solary Energy Weapons?

Solar Energy has even been rumored to be an effective weapon, according to the 3rd century legend of Greek General and Engineer, Archimedes.

The story goes that Archimedes brilliantly engineered a system by which the sun's energy would be used to destroy would be attackers. As Roman war ships were attempting to sack the citadel at Syracuse, Archimedes' men direct the sun's heat towards them, causin them to catch fire and burn.

Archimedes accomplished this task by having his men polish their shields to a very reflective shine, and positioned each of them in such a way that the sun's rays would reflect off of them and meet at the same point; that point being where the Roman ships were. Much like you did as a kid when you burned holes in paper with a magnifying glass, the sun's rays were concentrated in one location, causing heat and eventually fire. Bye, bye Roman ship.
