Powering and Enjoying Your DIY Air Conditioner

With your homemade air conditioning unit now fully assembled, the last thing to do is put ice in it and connect it to a power source. Because I chose a fan that can operate with voltages as low as 6V, I can used a wide range of power sources. The closer to 12V, the faster the fan, and the more cold air it can blow. I like to use my home-made solar panels to power the fan, but sometimes I use a 9V or 12V battery.

Once you have it connected, all there is left to do is enjoy it. If you use a block of ice, rather than cubed or crushed ice, you may get better results. I have used cubed ice while using it as a cooler though, and still had cold beers with a cool breeze in my face.
